This database includes articles from many women's studies and feminist journals.

To search for articles in Academic Search Premier about a particular individuals in the suffragist movement:

  • click on subject terms

  • click on the people tab

  • enter the name of the person you are researching in Browse For search box using the format last name, first name, then click on Browse

  • place a check mark in the box next to your subject's name (you can see that there are 61 articles about Elizabeth Cady Stanton)
  • click on the Add button at the top of the results list

  • Your subjects name will appear in the Find search box
  • Click on the Search button

This database offers full text articles from a number of women's studies journals but is somewhat tricky to search. Use the keyword search option for both names of particular individuals and concept search terms. When the results appear

  • click on the "Literacy Criticism, Articles & Work Overviews" tab
  • then click on the green "Articles" button to view the list of relevant articles.

If you would like to find more articles - ask a librarian if she/he can provide you with access to the New York State Library databases which include

  • 19th Century Masterfile - An index to nineteenth century (1802 to 1906) newspapers
  • African American Newspapers:The 19th Century - The database consists of six newspapers: The Freedom's Journal, The Colored American, The North Star, Frederick Douglass Paper, The National Era, Provincial Freeman, and The Christian Recorder. Dates covered are 1827-1902
  • America's Historical Newspapers - Early American newspapers published between 1690 and 1922, including titles from all 50 present states.
